Carriage House Samplings

Designer Marty Barrick finds inspiration for Carriage House Samplings in the outdoors, where she paints in oils, and in antiques shops and museums throughout the mid-Atlantic area. She celebrates history ("Shenadoah," "Chincoteague," "Atlantic Cod," "Lincoln") and continues to add to the Hawk Run Hollow series which her sister Kathy Barrick artfully created. Her whimsical designs feature primitive people, animals, sea and landscapes, and historic quotes, and she has reproduced antique samplers ("Agness Rowlandson," "Shaw.") Marty paid homage to the newspaper industry ("Ode to the Newspaper") after leaving her 27 year art director position with The Washington Post. She celebrates history with unexpected designs ("Pantaloons") and with enthusiasm ("Christmas Joy Ride.")
