Fair Philomel

A cross stitch pattern by Barbara Ana Designs. Fair Philomel is based on a quote from a play by William Shakespeare. Philomel is an ancient Greece heroine with a cruel destiny, recording the tragic event of her life on canvas and finally achieving peace by turning into a nightingale. Verse reads, "Fair Philomel, why she but lost her tongue and in a tedious sampler sewed her mind." The pallet of threads is made of beautiful rich tones with a slightly faded look. Stitch count 123 wide x 148 high. Stitched on #8026 Newcastle Linen antique white.
