Jane Austen Sampler

Cross stitch pattern from Riverdrift House. This sampler was designed to commemorate the bi-centenary of the death of one of the world's best-love writers, Jane Austen. The large house stitched in the middle of the design was taken from a drawing, and is all that remains of her childhood home. Stitched around the home, are 18th century motifs of a ship, insects, birds, plants, deer, etc. The Winchester Cathedral can be seen in the distance, where Jane is buried. The date at the bottom of this design is the years of Jane's birth and death. Stitch count 231 x 191.
